MOVIE NIGHT – “CODA”
April 9, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Members of the Deaf community, CODAs and people with hearing loss are invited, along with their family/friends, to a special showing of CODA.
When: Saturday, April 9, 2022
Time: 1:00 PM
Location: Epping Playhouse,
Address: 38 Ladds’ Lane, Epping, NH
Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture, CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) is a story of love and relationships. It’s about the journey of one family as a hearing daughter grapples with her future dreams while her deaf parents and brother empower themselves to keep their New England fishing business afloat. The movie features real-life deaf performers —a sensational group consisting of legendary Oscar winner Marlee Matlin, scene-stealing and funny Troy Kotsur (first Deaf male Oscar winner), and Daniel Durant— which brings a rare, inherent kind of authenticity. We hope you feel inspired, informed, and entertained. This film is free and not open to a general audience.
Following the film, at 3:00, we will have a brief panel discussion. What did CODA get right or wrong? What resonated with you or seemed to miss the mark? What do you wish the hearing world/Deaf community/hearing loss community to learn from this film?
Epping Playhouse is a 200 seat auditorium with a hearing loop installed. It is not a movie theater but has a temporary set up. This movie is also open-caption and 40% ASL.
Your safety is our utmost concern. Please stay home if you feel sick or have been exposed to COVID-19 in the past 10 days. Masks are optional and recommended. Omicron subvariant BA.2 now accounts for over 50 percent of Covid-19 cases in New Hampshire according to the CDC and is 30% more transmissible. The auditorium has a virus-grade filtration system.
